VicPic is about creating graphics, applied art and illustration, as needed, to help people communicate ideas, for business, social issues, and for fine art to enhance their living or working spaces and places.

Welcome to VicPic Graphics Design and Art

This is my website to show viewers about the applied and fine art work I have created, in the form of online galleries and portfolios for fine artwork and graphics design work.

I hope that you find this interesting and that it can reawaken appreciation and interest in art whether it be applied art or fine art. I have studied various aspects of art throughout my life, first becoming introduced to art by a very creative mother who loved to draw and paint everything from flowers, to portraits, landscapes, and sailboats on lakes. In public school I enjoyed drawing, painting, pottery, clay sculptures, making light paper-and-wood mobiles in art class, and decided to major in art at Mankato State University in my home state of Minnesota.

At Mankato State University I studied the fine art of printmaking, including creating prints from woodcut and linoleum plates, and printing from metal plates (etchings, aquatints, colloidal) and even colloidal printing from created cardboard plates. I minored in Advertising Design and took various related courses to learn what is involved with that work.

Later I completed courses in Graphics Design and Typography (expressive typography) and commercial art layout and production at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

I worked in Public Service for the State of Minnesota mostly for the computer bureau, first as an administrative assistant, an then as a Graphic Arts Specialist where I applied many of my applied arts and graphics skills as a computer user. I created overlays for electronic forms, and used my applied art skills for business graphics, illustrations for print, for touching up department logos for printing, etc. With the development of the internet there was a need to convert email forms to web forms for the internet, and so I learned skills in creating webforms working with website techology. I was promoted to Information Techology Specialist and thoroughly enjoyed managing over 100 webforms for the computer bureau, plus doing forms management for the various forms in the bureau so that they followed the necessary fors design standards for the Bureau.

In my free time I have taken many interesting, memorable, and beautiful photos with various cameras over the years -- from snapshots with instamatic cameras, 35mm cameras, use of zoom lenses for the tops of mountains, and enjoy taking photos with my cell phone now with the great detail and clarity that these phones have to offer. I took many photos with my 35mm camera in Grand Teton Park over the years, and two summers ago I took a tour of the Yellowstone National Park and did very much sightseeing there and took many photos. California is also beautiful by the ocean. And Minnesota also has beautiful scenes with its lakes, forests, meadows, and parks.

And so on this website I plan to show fine art and graphics design work that I have created, and later some photography, in collections of "galleries" and I hope that you find the work inspiring and informative. If you have questions or have interest in acquiring my fine art or may have a graphics design project that needs to be completed, please contact me. I have just begun this website, and so keep tuned, as it will take some time for me to get it majorly ready for viewing...
